You dont absolutely have to line bore but its the best way. You can remove all the main caps and have them milled down on the top side so they are all exact same height and surface grind or mill the bedplate straight instead of just taking them straight off the burn table.
The main caps do indeed vary slightly in height. Use a known good machinist straight edge and feeler gauges and you'll see. If the caps are not exact same height then bolting the bedplate will distort the caps/bearings.

Hey. Diggin through a few old threads noticed a girdle thread. You still selling them for the 7.3 or was that a one time deal ?
I have arp studs for the mains. I replaced my bolts when I rebuilt it years ago cause they weren't taking the torque.
Are they the same lengths or do I need longer ones ?
