So i picked up a new to me 6.4 truck with 217K on the clock. Lariat truck. Fuel sytem issues.

Looked like this when i picked it up

Brought it home and started to crank on it. Truck would almost start. Only built 1000 psi of rail. Unhooked the DPF and found that there was fuel running from the down pipe.

Started to pull injectors thinking i would find a broken tip... no such luck. I built a tool to take the injectors the rest of the way apart. Found a bunch of metal in the injectors. The rod that travels the full distance of the injector was stuck in each body. I had to use a punch to drive them out of the bodies. After everything was cleaned up i re-installed the rods and used diesel to lube them up. The rods moved super free and everything seemed to be good. 6 of the 8 injectors were hung up like that. removed the turbos and injection pump, pump looked clean and brand new which leads me to beleive that someone put a pump on the truck and didnt clean the full fuel system and it plugged up the injectors. I put a different pump in it just in case but i am pretty sure there was nothing wrong with the other pump.

After i got the injectors and pump back in i checked compression... wasnt looking so good. 200 on all cylinders. Figured i didnt have much to loose at that point so i went ahead and tried to get it to run. It took a ton of cranking to finally get it running but it started. Ran rough for some time but is now running really smooth. I have about 250 miles on it so far and am starting to like the truck more and more. DPF is cracked so i put on a race tune, runs pretty well lol.

bought some 37s from a guy at work and put on the old race truck wheels.

This is how it sits now.

I have a few things to fix, like the 4wd doesnt work, looks to me like the dealer that it sat at for a year started to rob some parts from the truck. Tranfercase motor was just barely bolted on and the module behind the glove box was on the front seat. THe motor is no good of course... bastard dealerships

The tailgate had some rubbed paint from the rear bumper being moved up, i decided to try some plastic dip on the tailgate, 3 cans later i am not super happy with the results. I ordered some wrap material to try to wrap the bumpers and maybe the tailgate. Eventually i would like to paint the entire truck but i dont know if its that important to me LOL

This is going to be its life for the summer untill my 79 project is complete.
Just put the tower on the boat the last couple weeks and getting it ready for lake season ( if it stops snowing)

No plans so far with the truck other than maybe hit a couple local sled pulls and see how it does.

LOL no that is not my last name.. THey have a full fleet of very nice work trucks.

I am kinda getting used to the paint, the execution on the paint is pretty poor so there are spots that are comming up. Most people say they like it, its different for sure.
