Is it just me or does it seem you have more options with a 6 speed vs a 5 speed? Anyways truck is a 96 5 speed 468 300/200 blah blah blah. Anyways I have a 450hp clutch in it and it's old but it won't begin to hold it I'm saying maybe half throttle on my street tune. What are you guys running in the 5 speed trucks? I like valair over south bend just due to the fact I've always owned valair and beat the piss out of them. Another option is putting a zf6 in it if I need it to get a decent DD clutch.

The Valair ceramic DD in my OBS is rated at 650hp. Guessing your setup will be around 600hp. So it'd be close. Good clutch though. I've got around 50 launches on mine and it keeps on coming back for more. Only on a 520hp setup though. Probably be a different story at 600 or above.

I think I'd try out the sintered iron DD. Rated for 750hp and every one of them I've used has been quieter and smoother engaging than a ceramic. They do squeel a little bit when you're slipping it to take off from a stop though. Almost like brakes squeeling, but it's not too terrible. I just don't know how long sintered iron will last on the street since I haven't used one on the street. I bet it'd last a good while though.

I think the squealing would drive me nuts. I think 650 would be right at the border, if I didn't have that big ass trailer I wouldn't worry to much seeing I'm pretty easy on it with this set up because I don't want a rod through the block

I'm getting a haisley dd for my next clutch. I have the valair ceramic/kevlar clutch now and it holds when rolling into it but pedal gets spongy when launching in second or 3

You shouldn't be launching a single disc at all..... not even a full ceramic single can take launches in 3rd.

Valair ceramic dd hands down. I run their 600hp rated ceramic single disk and couldn't be happier. I know it don't mean as much since it's a single disk but it's not the least bit noisy or overly grabby.

Valair all day long. But if you are gonna beat on it, it has to be ceramic, or sintered iron. Both can get grabby. But like Travis said, my sintered iron in my pulling truck engages smoother than just about any other clutch I've had. But it howls when it's engaging.
