One of the alignment holes. They are tight so the manifold isnt flopping around. I got them all out and cleaned my manifolds up. That is high temp paint on them..its still on three years later..

Yes! Dont waste your time or money. Get it welded then scuff the new oil pan. Then paint the **** out of it with whatever you choose.

I used the same silver vht paint I used on the block. Then my buddy, ever the study, notices tons of little marks where the road had been flinging shti. So we stopped painting and grabbed a couple cans of duplicolor bedliner.

I was thinking some high temp engine paint then some (canned) spray-on bedliner.

As far as the manifolds.... I think new ones (painted) will be my best bet. These have pretty thick chunks of metal flaking off. They will outlast the block if I do.

Gonna be a lot of work to clean this sumbitch up.

I have done a few worse then that. I've replaced numerous VCs that have rusted through and had a couple that head bolts were almost completely rusted off.

Toman if you do new manifolds don't use dormans.

Its doable though. If you can leave things slightly covered and pressure wash the **** out of it, that'll help. A lot.

Supposed to. I was told "you dont need the ***king things". Well you do unless a sharp ticking sound wont drive you up the frikkin wall.

I torqued them properly and still had a skight leak. Retightened and the noise got sharper. Put gaskets in and *dead quiet*

Eh, not too bad tom! Ceramic paint on the manis, good old rustoleum on the pan, with a good primer.
I wrapped the manifolds also, some guys don't like it, but it helps with the heat. Lasted 75k miles just fine so far.

Bet you have zero problem chasing down an oil leak.

I painted a small block Chevy engine pure white once. Looked pretty for a couple years. Ended up pulling it fixing some little leaks, and painting it black.

Yep...it looks good still. The silver isnt as shiny. It still clean though. And the manifolds have little dots of rust bleeding through. The uppupes and charger are still clean n black.

Yea, cummins paints their motors tan so they can see oil leaks. I used the idea but with silver and black. It works great. .easy to see...

I have a led circuit to install and wire up. Leds under the hood and around the engine. Pull over at night and light the bay up if need be!

My brothers truck he just "had" to buy. This is the side I torched off the bolt heads. Going to cut the driver side. Never in my life seen a truck rusted like this one. Had to weld nuts to 4 of them. Uppipe bolts fused into the manifolds well.

Got some paint on her this weekend! All the CAC/Manifold/up-pipes will be silver, and the engine will be blue obviously. She's looking good and coming together nicely! I should have the engine put back together as of Thursday, probably won't be putting the block back in until next week tho, but we'll see, if I can get it back together sooner I will! Still need to clean and paint in the frame/cross-member in inside the front end.
