Well guys the time has finally come to build my play/ drag truck! My names Devon Williams from Ontario Canada, I have been on the site for a couple years now and have had 2 fun DD (6.0l and 6.4 that JohnP currently owns) that have treated me well. I got a promotion at work and a company truck that has allowed me to finally build my fun truck. I spent a while looking, almost bought something at the Richie brothers sale but the kms were just to high… finally (and surprisingly) I found this one owner farm truck 15 minutes from my house! Ironically it was the same color as my previous truck but was pretty scratched/ beat up. I think the guy ordered it extra basic with manual locks, wined up windows and no cd player.. but it serves my purpose, here it it’s the day I bought it on the lot, 3 and a half weeks ago

First order of business was getting it road worthy, it needed full brakes on the front, fluid changes and I put on a set of Harley rims that I had. I also removed everything unneeded in terms of weight, ditched the spare tire assembly, trailer hitch, jack etc.

Then came a set of Recaro race seats that I also had along with an SCT live wire with a Gearhead base file and 5” stack, all of which I had saved for this build.

It also got a quick duplicolor spray bomb bedliner at this point to clean things up

Then it was time for a color change, I decided I wanted something different so 3 buddys of mine and I spend 3 nights wrapping it in 3M Matte silver 1080 vinyl, most people love it, some say it looks like primer but I think it suits this truck perfect, very happy with the results. I also got it tinted with 20% all the way around and sunstrip, aswell as wrapping the tail lights/ 3rd brake light in laminex

This weeks project what correcting the elevation, the DJM 3-5” drop kit arrived Monday and we went to work again, I also removed the overload and 4th spring from the rear pack. End result is exactly what I wanted, I also had a set of 420’s (305/50/20) installed on the harley rims. And a street scene bumper showed up yesterday which I wrapped and installed, really cleaned up the back end.

So this is where we sit currently and the real fun begins, I plan to enjoy it for the weekend then pull the cab Monday night and get to work.

I need to give a big shout out to Morgan at Midwest, I have nothing but great things to say about this man and it has been a pleasure doing business with him, look forward to meeting him in the near future. The build will be 2 parts simply because of time restrictions and this truck WILL be at TS in a couple months

Stage 1:

Full billet tranny:

-Billet OD planetary
-Billet input shaft
- billet low reverse hub
- rayobestos GPZ kit
- 2000 stall precision converter
- billet flex plate

motor:

-arp studs
- stage 2 springs/ pushrods
- ported intake manifold
- 6.0l manifolds/ uppipes with Tial Mv-R gate
- 4” afe downpipe
- RCD 59/75 compounds
- Fuel lab 200 with all redone non regulated return setup
- cal tracks
- 390/70/17 M&H racemaster slicks on Amwerican eagle 17x 10 rims
- true track or locker (open to suggestions)

Stage 2 which will happen following TS

Fresh rebuilt motor (have a spare motor to swap in)
- all of the previous upgrades obviously plus:
- coated HD pistons
- all new rod/ main bearings and lifters
- ATI dampener
- Stage 3 colt cam
- Mid west dual fueler kit
- 60% injectors
- intercooler
- 8 point roll cage from S&W Racecars
-
im probably forgetting something’s but that’s most of it, I have all of the parts listed except for the 75mm and pistons which should be here next week, sent the heads out today and plan to drop the tranny off Tuesday

My goals are to be 800+ hp on fuel after adding fuel and have it strong it enough to spray it over 1000

This year will be quite the learning curve figuring out how to launch a 2wd but im excited, I aiming to break 11s which should be very doable if I can get it to hook

Awesome truck and I like the long bed too. It will awesome to leave an Audi with 15 sheets of plywood in the long bed. Fast, awesome and usable truck. I'm sub'd...

Cool truck. 2wd's are fun at the track. You should have no issue with 11's as long as you hook up. Leave soft... Like 10psi + or - then roll into it and by second you should be able to floor it. Get some good shocks like QA1. My best 60ft with caltrac's and M&H tires was 1.78. That was with stock shocks. With some better shocks, on top of the caltrac's being set up perfectly 1.6's could be achieved... In other words I hope you have tall gears in that truck to offset those little M&H tires. 1000hp will get you over 130mph. I have 3.55's and was at 3900rpm on my best pass at 122mph with slightly more hp then you're fuel only goals.

Best of luck with it!
