I drove mine last night. Turbo really comes on strong right about 1750RPM's.

2,000 RPM's = 75/76mph give or take. 35" tires, 3.73 gears.

What tunes have you tried btw? I've been running Extreme X for a while and it seems to keep the truck out of overdrive until it can really use it. It locks the converter as soon as it shifts to 5th gear and uses it for 6th (OD) as well. With the converter locked in 5th, it can pretty much pull out of any situation, but like you said in 6th is when it will lug, but with this tune it really wont shift in very easy, has to be pretty perfect circumstances.

I put Extreme Street back in last night though and that will shift into 6th with the converter locked much easier.

Using tow/haul also eliminates this issue completely for me as it pushes overdrive out until about 65mph so it really can't get under the turbo at that point for me.

I'm definitely at lower elevation than you as well, I'm guessing. I basically am running at near sea level and up to maybe 1500 feet by home.

See the way you describe is pretty much what mines like, maybe i just need to expect less down low lol

Gonna have the converter re-stalled and go from there

I think if you go re-read my initial review post, you'll find I felt kind of the same way. It's just adapting to a different driving style. You find ways to keep the turbo going without falling on it's face etc. You sort of just get used to it. I'm sure my elevation is helping me too. Though I still suspect you had transmission issues possibly. I'll be really interested to see what happens when you get that converter re-stalled.

So ive been running around on my gh 8k tow tune to reduce smoke so i can drive till i pull the trans back out, rolled onto the throttle in 4th today to wot and without the converter locked wot i maxxed the map sensor out at 35# most i had ever seem even with an early locking hot street tune was 31-32# and even then not till i was in od.

Strange

shop called today, guess the converter had warped clutches, so was dragging all the time.

wham bam fixed. now I'm ready to go back together....

used trans and now rebuilt-re stalled precision converter I'm 1100 into it. hurts , and I'm still rolling the dice with the trans, but I don't feel too horrible I guess.

When is the trans going back in? I'm interested to see how it runs with a proper transmission and converter in it.

Went back in today after work. I gotta say it seems more "right" for sure. Off idle seems greatly improved. Havent put the wood to it yet though.

Off subject, but have you ever been on a 1/4mi track?

I did some 1/4 mile testing with a dash mounted Escort unit a while back, but that was before I did this turbo. I ran a 14.25 with ********** Extreme Street on 34" super swampers. Seemed pretty accurate. I would really like to get this on the track, but not sure it will ever happen unfortunately lol. I would guess mid 13's is do-able.

Any idea on mph?? Trying to figure out how accurate these online hp calculators are . Trapped 95 the two runs before cooking the trans with an amazing 2.5 sec 60' lol

The calculator on here is pretty damn near accurate. I have dyno sheets that agree 100% with my track slips.

95 should put you between 440-450 at the wheels, which also matched what estimated hp on programmers were sayin.... Not that that means much LOL. I had idp extremem street and ficm tune with stock air and fuel, and was running about that. Their extreme street claimed 420 at the wheels and ficm tuner was claiming another 20 or so, once again, ot thatthat meant much, but track times backed it up @ 7630 race weight.

The calculators are definitely the most accurate. At the time I ran that 14.25 on the dash mount the calculators put me at 425rwhp. Seemed pretty damn accurate. I had dyno'd 466 previous to that on nothing but X-race tune. Stock intake, stock exhaust and all.

I believe the track time hp more than the dyno hp.

Also your poor 60' shouldn't really affect trap speed at all. It will certainly affect ET, but trap should be about the same.

Only one way to find out...

ugh, yea, except now I'm scared ill break something again. lol

but at the same time, I know now, how NOT to try and get the turbo to lite at the line. don't just hold the brake and floor it and wait for days on end for it to light, prob better to just ease into it till it lights. lol

If I'm not mistaken, fluid temp rises 100 degrees for every second you are on the foot or trans brake...
