So loud compared to a SD

One thing is for sure they are much louder with the window down than up on my 97. Some better insulation on the firewall and floorboards would likely make a difference.

This whole subject is like splitting hairs. None of mine were bad stock. Every mod that improves air or fuel makes them louder. I yanked that dirty, nasty **** off my hood and that added tons of noise.

The newest obs is 20 years old. Even stock they are going to be noisy and clattery pieces.

I like them. Cool trucks. I like my sd 7.3. Cool trucks. Both old pieces of garbage though

Not really. Same injection system for 7.3s. That split on the cummins is comparing common rail to non common rail. That's a different ball game

Around late 96 or so, they started to use the sandwich construction valve covers.
