Got over 900 miles on rebuild and worried that I got too much blowby.

Will that set eventually or should I do something TO set them.

I've drove it with a trailer, up and down a pretty good hill with it loaded. Didn't baby it or over heat it. Turbo blew doing that though. That shouldn't have anything to do with the rings right? I did do a hot retorque with it on the stand. I varied the rpm's doing that. So not sure if I did something wrong.

What exactly failed on the turbo? I suppose if compressor wheel shattered, or anything metal on the intake side broke, small pieces could have been ingested into a cylinder.

The compressor wheel had "some" material taken off but turbine wheel is what broke off from shaft. Then oil went out exhaust.

What oil did you use for break in. I know our oil will not lets rings seat. I'm sure others might do that as well.

I used cheap oil for the startup and hot retorque. Then put in Mystic 15W40 oil. Blend of synthetic.

It's not bad. I started it up, cold. plugged the vent hose and turn oil cap over and not much air when I did then.

Throw some cheap Rotella in there and run it for a 1000 miles or so. You gotts be a little mean to a motor when it's new. Let it know who is the boss.

Use a good oil filter though. Those rings have to cut their way into a perfect fit with the cylinder wall (that's what seating the rings is). After a 1000 miles, if the rings are set, change to what it will live with. If not, repeat. I would probably not really use Rotella though, maybe Delo, just use a dino oil.
