it's tough in your situation on the 6.4 because there's no way the long block has that many problems. I'm finishing up another 6.4 myself where the guy had a misfire & smoke out the tail pipe. His local "diesel performance" shop sold him a full set of injectors only to come back that it has a miss, so there's probably a compression problem. ...yeah, a big crack in the piston with blow-by pounding out the fill port when the cap is off. How do you miss that and blame injectors? It really surprises me now some of these knuckle heads claim to be technicians/ mechanics with such a great lack of competence.
That's honestly what ford wants tho. Dumb techs that only do what they are told, like in your case, they sold a complete set of injectors and now they get to sell an entire engine. They don't care about techs being able to figure anything out. Its all about parts and labor sales...

Neither of those stories involved a dealership except as a parts source. FoMoCo actually has a really good training program, so if that is your experience, it is specific to the dealership /tech you work with 
It was good for me and a couple vendors here though because now that guy has lots of reliability & power upgrades, just limited by stock fuel. That's a story for another place though, but I definitely see where you're coming from. I've seen plenty of shops like that.
