Hard cutoff on 2002 when jarred / jolted

Been a while since I have been on here. Have a 2002 Super duty that shut down unexpectedly in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Thought it was the CPS. Felt just like shutting the key off. Waited about 5 min, and was able to start it and get to a parking spot. Went inside and got my errand done, came...

Super Duty fuel pump / selector valve troubleshooting

It's on the way... be here tomorrow. d selector valve motor burned up. Bad enough that the insulating varnish cooked out of the little rotor and locked it up. It's wound with AWG #37 wire. Not gonna try to fix it...

Super Duty fuel pump / selector valve troubleshooting

Thanks to 5_oh; tested a known good selector valve by applying + / - 12VDC to pins D and E on the selector - it swaps and holds position once DC is removed. The one on my truck is definitely not working - this valve makes a very distinct sound when operating. Gonna disassemble the bad one -...

    7.3 parts / D50 parts

6 year old thread resurrection. Dana 50 outers - knuckles, spindles, locknuts, and hubs. Need new rotors, new bearings, new balljoints, and your lockout hubs. $100. (I've sold a couple sets of these to Dodge guys with unit hubs, they say they can convert to bearing-locknut style hubs with...

Super Duty fuel pump / selector valve troubleshooting

Cool. I had read elsewhere that the 88 *Bronco* 351 was the 38 gal., but I could only find the 33. I wonder if the 38 has a flat enough place for a sump...???

    2002 ESOF 60 mph shift

I have a buddy (not on the internet) who had the same thing happen to him. His truck is somewhat of a Frankenstein... it's an early 99 cab and bed on a 2002 rolling chassis, with a 2005 front end. He has electrical gremlins constantly in that truck. "My" 2002 I inherited from my dad in late...

    2002 ESOF 60 mph shift

I had a strange thing happen in my 2002. Cruising home one night, about 60 mph on a flat level highway, I feel a little jerk like the engine missed. About 2 seconds later, I get the 4x4 and Low Range lights on the dash, and the worst gear grinding I've ever heard. Dang thing shifted to...

Super Duty fuel pump / selector valve troubleshooting

Cool. I've only looked for the 33 or 38 gallon bronco tanks. I'll dig into that for sure.

Super Duty fuel pump / selector valve troubleshooting

Which 38 gallon tank? I'll have to re read the mods you listed, I've heard of them before but can't recall them. There was a guy on Ford-diesel.com who sumped both factory tanks, and left them tied w/o a selector to self balance their fuel. He could get 40 gallons out of the 17 and 19...

Super Duty fuel pump / selector valve troubleshooting

Ok. Im running a "baby fuel" system; a Super Duty pump after the factory selector valve, feeding into a spin-on filter. The truck died the other day. I had swapped tanks, the gauge moved, but it died at enough miles for the tank I was on to be empty. Checked the fuel pressure gauge under the...

T4 Downpipe/E4OD front cooler line clearance

How many layers thick is the cab / floorboard? I've got a nice (to me) Lenox 4 1/2 hole saw that I may whup out...

T4 Downpipe/E4OD front cooler line clearance

Time to resurrect a thread! How on earth did you clear the firewall for that Irate downpipe? I have my OBS T4 kit mounted, and can't get the old 3" downpipe between the bellows and the firewall. The pinch weld area should clear fine... where I'm having issues us directly behind the...

    Dana 60 swap *dumb questions*

I am fortunate to have access to a real old-school hardware store that has EVERYTHING. They even fix window screens and have stovepipe. Stover nuts FTW. Now that I recall, that's what was holding the stupid TTB center pivot brackets on. Should have remembered that :fustrate: Thanks!

2002 gets puny after a minute... finally quit...

Turns out mine wasn't easy after all. I warmed it up with the APCM Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. Was in a hurry to get to work Thursday, didn't warm it up, quit a mile from home. AutoEnginuity (Thanks RiffRaff Diesel) arrived Thursday night. Put it on there tonight (Friday)...

2002 gets puny after a minute... finally quit...

I had a P1211, a glow plug circuit low, iah circuit low, a P0340 CPS failure code. Could not clear them with the scan tool I had. I drained the bowl and changed the fuel filter. Thus far, has not acted up since (three trips).

2002 gets puny after a minute... finally quit...

Nothing unusual; no fuel smell, no foam, level is OK. Gotta look back through my records and see when it was serviced last. (Inherited this truck but I did the maintenance on it.)

2002 gets puny after a minute... finally quit...

My 2002 7.3 automatic has developed a deal where it gets weak after about 2-4 miles every morning. It acts like you let off the throttle, then starts missing and loping, smokes very faint blue, and then clears up. I live a mile from the interstate and at 70 mph it'll clear up after 15-30...

    Dana 60 swap *dumb questions*

Thanks for the replies. The nylock nuts are thick and one just barely clears the oil pan. Would prefer to have the thinner bolt head next to the oil pan. Other option is to use a standard nut and red loctite I suppose? gnxtc2, your picture is worth ten-thousand words, as far as spotting...

Raising the engine - how to?

I need to raise my engine about 2 1/2 - 3 inches to clear some bolt removal / install on the crossmember in front of the oil pan. Looking for the easiest way.... no hoist available.
