A 5.9CR is a big improvement over a stock 7.3. The 5.9CR has quite a bit more grunt on the low end and makes a lot more power on the top end, especially in direct and 3rd gears, where the 7.3 seems to run out of breath. Fuel wise, on a route where one isn't using the extra power the 5.9 has over the 7.3, the 5.9CR gets 10-20% better fuel economy than a 7.3. When using the extra power, it depends on how you are using it. If the engine speed is kept under control, the 5.9CR doesn't use any more. If you get hard on the throttle, it can use more. [/QUOTE]
