A 5.9CR is a big improvement over a stock 7.3. The 5.9CR has quite a bit more grunt on the low end and makes a lot more power on the top end, especially in direct and 3rd gears, where the 7.3 seems to run out of breath. Fuel wise, on a route where one isn't using the extra power the 5.9 has over the 7.3, the 5.9CR gets 10-20% better fuel economy than a 7.3.
