This has nothing to do with the bug guard. these cracks are there from the draw die, thinning of metal in the draw process coming from the stamping plant. This obviously got missed in QC

The trans shifts perfect, I did use the PCS to control the trans but I think it can be done without it. I went with the painless wire harness on the cummins just to simplify the electrical as this is not my strong point. I believe with the factory harness it will control the trans.

Ring gear bolts @95 ft/lbs, carrier cap bolts @ 80 ft/lbs

I wouldn't bother with a 4R, just do the 48RE and you wont have to get the adapters.

Nice looking truck, I priced out the exact same truck new in 01 @ $62K sticker. Dealer wouldn't budge on price so I ended up with my F450 LA West conversion truck from a different dealer. I wish I would have known you were looking I probably would have sold mine.

This is the one I made, 36" long 5/8" threaded rod. Cups for the seal end are freeze plugs from the parts store (misc sizes) about 5 or 6 total should do about any size tube seal you will ever need to do.

Did you at least check backlash, marking compound to check patern?
