Like the title says , I am in the market for a new set of tires and like the Toyo Open Country AT's . My problem is stock tire are continental 275/70/18 and are 33.2" tall and weigh 52.5 #'s according to there web site and the 285/65/18 toyos are 32.5" tall and weigh 58 #'s . The 285/75/18 are 34.8" tall and weigh 66.1 #'s . I all ready have a new in the box Icon leveling kit i bought last year . Mileage with the stock tires was 15.6 with the last tank and i would hate for it to get worse with new tires . So the grand question is do i install the Icon kit and go with the 285/75/18's or sell the Icon kit and go with the 285/65/18 's . and no staying with the stock tires isn't an option .

You could probably run the 285/75/18 without the leveling kit. It's a pretty skinny tire and will probably measure 34" mounted. I ran that tire a couple of year ago. It's a really good size for a stock height truck. It was a little on the small side for a leveled truck (my truck had 2.5" up front when I had them). If you're worried about fuel mileage, I wouldn't go bigger. Bigger will look better though.

Yea i always liked lifted trucks . I wasn't sure if the 1.5" in height and 13lb. difference between the stockers and the 285/75/18 would be much if any difference in mileage . the taller tires would lower the rpm's slightly . On my last truck an 2001 , I went from the stock 265/75/16's to 285/75/16's and didn't see any mileage change . Price isn't much different the 285/65/18 are $237 a tire and the 285/65/18 are $206 a tire . The only thought on the smaller tires are they would increase the rpm's ( probably not much ) . I would like to see some pics of stock trucks with the 285/65/18 tires on them .

Is anybody running the 285/65/18's ? I see a lot of guys that had leveling kits going back to stock height and running alot wider tires , i would think running wider tires would create just as much rolling resistance as a taller tire that's only slightly wider than stock .
