I dont think it would be from the cups... I was thinking bearing material. I put new cups in it three years ago...

None the less I was expecting to blow a rod out the side one day, I'm happy I have yet another complete motor to rebuild at some point. I want to pull the heads and have them checked/built, as they have never been off other then me when I installed it.

I would think to be that far down in the bearings it would have some lower end noise, let me know what you find if you tear it apart.

Depending on your ability to travel/transport there is a guy local to me selling a 1996 CC F350 with 141k on it for $2k. Truck was rolled so body is basically shot. I'm after the axles in it, but couldn't come up with enough cash for the entire truck. I can contact him and see if it's still available if you're interested in going partners.

What kind of EGTs did this thing run constantly? I wonder if you lost an oil squirter and thus caused the piston to overheat.

Throw it on a pallet and make me a deal... LOL.

Going to take a look at this one tomorrow...

http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/cto/3536038891.html

I offered him $2500, and he came back with $2750... I will counter once I see it of $2600 and take it or leave it. Figure I can part out what I dont need and be in the new motor for $300-$700 bucks.
I may need a few things if you end up with this one.

LOL...

I'm not worried about it, for the $400 I have into that motor and getting 80k out of it...

The motor had low compression when I stuck it in. It had 170k on it but looked like it had 200+, so I tacked on another 80k... About right in my mind for a cracked piston.

No, I'm in Portland Oregon right now.

Shoot me a price if thats what your getting at...

It'd be too much with shipping.

You wouldn't happen to be working in Burlington Ks right now would you?
A neighbor told me an out of towner was looking for a 7.3. I have 2.

Joe I'm looking for a motor for a truck at my dad's. He lives in Rose Hill so we could come pick it up. Let me know what you have if you don't mind.

Let me know. If we can get it on my flat bed we can get it the axles out for you...

Called today and left a message. I'll let you know what he says.
I'd have no problem with driving it onto a trailer then pulling the axles out from under it...as long as you have a way of unloading it again.
