On my 14 F350, yesterday, my truck acted like it would not go into 4x4, though the light on the dash said it was. I looked around and found what I believe is the vacuum line for the hub broke into. What would be the best way to fix it?

replied some place else but a barbed coupler fitting will work fine at that location

just dig out the broken parts from the lines and put the barbed fitting inside that retainer

The best way to fix it is forget trying to keep the vacuum working and turn the hubs in.

Not trying to be smart azz just a piss poor system.

Always worked for me just fine. It's kinda nice turning the knob when the road gets a bit sketchy.

The older systems before 2011 were worse.

how is the 2011 up better ?

the PVH system isn't piss poor IMO but seals don't last forever
and obviously you can't yank a hose apart and expect it to still function

Seeing he's from WV I guess was the reason for my comment.

I know the conditions a lot of those trucks see, and keeping the PVH working is a yearly, if not more, maintenance issue.

When it does work it's a nice to have.

From his pic it's very easy to see the problem, but giving him a heads up issues will probably continue to arise with that system.

assuming your talking about the vacuum line in harms way?

you have brake lines and ABS down there also if your raming sticks in there
you may have bigger problems sooner or later LOL

not sure if another MFG makes a better setup ? GM doesn't freewheel so it doesn't count IMO ( last I checked)

and i never paid attention to a Dodge system so no comemnt

but you have to admit being able to use the Ford hubs as a manual if the vac fails was brilliant

Dodges front ends do not free wheel. Well kinda 2002 and earlier have a Central Axle Disconnect on the passenger side that disconnects the axle shaft. From the carrier.
