Looking at possibly buying a truck sight unseen. High miles 05 like 300k on the truck. Had heads, egr ****** and studs around 100k ago. From the current owner he said the dealer wasnted to throw injectors at, a ficm and other fuel related items. Im thinking possible icp or cps could be faulty. What should i look for. The truck apparently runs and drives but randomly shuts off. Any possible ideas or shouldni just walk away

I would probably just walk away if I was you. To many things it could be and could rack up a costly bill.

The truck started right up dead cold 50ish degrees out side this morning. Took it for about a 45min drive and it performed flawless. 05 cc swb 4x4 6.0 with the 6spd and manual tcase. Lariat trim with a sun roof. Egr ****** and headstuds done last year. The truck is dirty and needs alot of cleaning and the driver bottom seat re covered but overall pretty nice truck except a little surface rust on the doors. The bed sides are toast unfortunately. But definitely not a deal breaker and i consider it a steal. Loaded it up and brought her home

That's a smoking deal! Great find. I'm sure you'll have it up and running in no time! Bravo.

Replaced the ipr. Found part of the plastic from the screen cap in the valve and it was likely loged holding it open so it wouldnt build icp. Once replaced the truck fired up. Ive put nearly 3000 miles on it. Starts like a champ thru this last snow storm and has been beat on quite a bit after we got 11" of snow. Pulled quite a few people out with it. The only issues i have at this point are a high temp delta indicating a bad oil cooler.

This is the piece im talking about. I figure ill tackle the oil cooler or begin trying to flush it after it warms up some here so far seems to be a pretty nice truck aside from a torn up driverseat and some rustuploadfromtaptalk1452035005537.jpg

Not a bad deal. My 06 SD had an IPR crap out on me rolling down the highway at 60mph. Started tore into her and discovered a busted IPR valve. New one cost me a premium from the stealership. Did you rebuild yours or get a whole new valve?

This will happen again. The screen under the oil cooler is more than likely blown out. Allowing debris through to your IPR screen.
