6.4 newb

Ok guys got a buddy that just bought a 08 6.4. He loves the truck but has a few questions. It is bone stock with 117k miles. its a f250 4 door 4x4 and he is only seeing around 12mpg mix city/hwy driving. is that normal? He is wanting to get more MPG out of it if possible. He is not really interested in doing any deletes or anything at this time if he doesn't have to. I'm a 6.0 guy so im not up on all of the 6.4 goodness. Is it possible to do a tune without doing any deletes? If so is it worth it? Thanks in advance I'm hoping to get my buddy signed up on the Army ASAP.

Seems like the mileage is about right. My stock 09 dually gets about that. Already got delete material coming. Only way to make significant improvements in fuel economy aside from the driver.

dpf on tunes on a 6.4 are really bad news. only way to improve mileage is to delete.

Ok now my buddy is interested in possibly deleting. What all needs to be deleted on a 08 6.4? obviously EGR. Anything else? Also which tunes would y'all recommend? Also what is he looking at price wise to do this?
