Truck is a 07 6.0, 160k miles, sct tune, new 58v ficm, studs, egr delete etc.. brand new batteries a month old. new glow plug module. It literally will not start in the mornings unless its plugged in. I have to hold the key 5-10 seconds then when it fires, keep holding it while its running for another 10-15 seconds to keep it going. I run rotella 15w40 with rev x and no change. When the motor picks up after i let off the key, it pours black smoke for 15-20 seconds, revs up fast to 1000 rpms then idles normal, has slight hesitation until upto temperature then runs perfectly fine with no sign of injector problems. Could this be a glow plug problem or injectors??? It even does it with no tune but not as bad, im thinking glow plug

Exactly the same issues I had. Hawgdoctor checked it out for me found 6 glow plugs no working correctly, but my glow plug module was fine. Putting the new ones in today.

Well then thats a good thing that its not injectors or something major. Is your truck tuned? Would it pour black smoke then clear up?

Yup. I run tsd's spd w/out early lock up and idp's x-street for my 175's. hawgdoctor is putting the plugs as we speak. Bill and Chris agreed this should solve my issue.
