Can't shift trans, help needed

I got a '99 7.3 with the 4R100. Last night I came home from a trip and shifted into park. Now the shift lever just flops up and down like it's not connected to anything. I'm stuck in park. Can't figure out how to take the plastic off the steering column to see what's wrong. Any ideas? I'm assuming they designed it that way to slow down bad guys, but now I'm screwed.

Look under the dash where the linkage connects to the cable the two little torx bolts like to work loose, potentiallt fall out.
