be sure to check crankcase pressure before and after. I did that on a Cummins one time in the downpipe, and it pressurized the crank case.

They're designed to go near the outlet of the exhaust. such as in the header collector on race cars.

I believe the 2nd orientation is correct

The 2nd would obviously optimize flow. Again, be sure to put it as far back as you can as mentioned above. Not sure how far most guys go.

Both do work.

1. Is by the angle and the slight vacuum as the exhaust flows past the pipe, and is helped by the port to allow exhaust flowing in to keep the flow of CCV fumes out. Mount this at 90 deg and it won't work with the opening forwards, turn it around so the opening backwards and it'll work also.

2. Is by the slight vacuum created as the exhaust flows around/past the piece of pipe.

Mine is closer to #2, works fine

#1 is the best way to do it. Put it further downstream and ideally right before an increase in pipe size, AKA at the end of the ****** pipe right before it steps up to 4 or 5 inch.

I ended up putting it like the second picture. We drilled a hole welded it in the 4" section right before where it expands to 5". I need some fittings and more hose to extend it, so it's not all hooked up yet. It does have a good suction on it that you can physically feel when you put your hand over it. Also lit a cigarette next to it and sucks the smoke in. My mechanic got a few of them from shop locally. They were in a box that had a return address for Midwest diesel. So I can only assume they came from Midwest.

Seems to be missing the check valve that prevents pressurizing the crankcasehttp://www.napaonline.com/p/CRB229005
