A friend of mine has a 6.7 dpf deleted H and S tuned 2011. He usually runs it on the top setting most of the time. He also does not tow. 6000 miles later the engine has a tapping noise (sounds like a valve tap) I talked to some other mechanics and they had several trucks smash the brass bushing in the connecting rod. Usually one is really bad but all the rest are loose as well. They blamed it on the H and S for have too much timing or fuel injection before the piston is still going up.

Anybody on here have this problem or know what is happening???

any help would be greatly appreciated

well he just changed his oil and the sound that he heard was the typewriter tick
so everything is fine with his truck
it sounds pretty bad the first time you hear that noise.

I am dreading my first oil change with all these comments I hear about the typewriter sounds. Good thing I don't need to change but every 10k.

Mine never did it on my first oil change at 6,500 on castrol full synthetic. At 11,000 now and next change will be with royal purple.

I'm leaning toward full synthetic being the key to not hearing the typewriter.

nope there was nothing wrong with the truck,

i talked to another friend of mine, he has around 110k on his and he owned it since it was new. For his truck he claims synthetic oil is by far the worst and regular oil does it the least.(he says after a couple thousand miles it goes away but after every oil change it comes right back)

I've got 80k on my truck, rotella made my truck tick, I switched to valvoline extreme blue(synthetic) and it quit ticking.

That s my finding, take it for what it's worth.
