Howdy all, been lurking and learning about the 6.7's for a couple years now...

Well after 300k miles on my 03' 7.3l f350 SRW with no major engine repairs, never even had the valve covers off, it was time to upgrade.

The new body style for 2017 hasn't grown on me yet, so a few months ago I set out looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack.

A very lightly used 2015/16 F450 Platinum/King Ranch, highly optioned, in either Bronze fire or Ruby Red.

It took 4 months to track one down that fit my criteria, but last week I flew from Seattle to Alabama and drove her home!

2015 Platinum F450 Bronze Fire, all options that I wanted and only 3961 miles.

Got a chance to get familiar with the truck on the 2900 mile trek back to Seattle, and all I can say is WOW!

What an awesome machine, even in stock form! Can't wait to start the customizing!!

Wow! Nice truck. Did you look at the one Bud Clary in Moses Lake had? It was a Ruby Red Platinum. My silver 450 is supposed to be here middle of next month.

Yeah I actually made an offer on that new one in Moses Lake, but we couldn't get close enough on price, at the time it hadn't even arrived from the factory yet, so they may not have been willing to come down much in price.

Somewhere down in Texas..
Yep, nice ride. Maybe when the '17 trucks roll out, and everyone bails on their current 6.7's, for the latest and greatest, I can snag a 450 at a reasonable price.

That was supposed to be my truck. They ordered Ruby Red and I wanted silver. I'm still waiting for the silver one to show up.

Yeah when I first called on it they mentioned that it had been ordered for somebody, but that they had wanted a white one. They said they had to check to make sure it was really available before they would entertain an offer on it.

We got close to a deal, but not close enough, if I remember right that truck was missing one option that I wanted, cant remember which one, it was either upfitter switches, heated rear seats, or the spray in bedliner. Sweet truck either way though.

So your not a big fan of the Ruby Red color I take it??

I am a fan of it but I live out in the sticks on a long gravel road. The Silver is the way to go for me.

What are you going to be doing with the truck?

Well I'm probably one of the few 450 owners who WON'T be towing a 5th wheel with it.

I'm a contractor, so it's getting a snugtop canopy, kargomaster rack, cargo-glide bedslide, and a buttload of tools to cart to work everyday. All told, about 3500 lbs in the bed everyday, with up to 5000lbs on occasion. Add to that I typically tow between 8000 -13000 lbs on the bumper between equipement trailers and the 30ft toyhauler.

As far as modifications, I'm planning on a leveling kit, new shocks, rear air bags, or possibly a Kelderman system if I can justify the cost. Probably jump up to 245 traction tires, on-board air, Buckstop front Bumper with 12k Warn winch. After adding all the extra crap, I'll evaluate performance and decide if it's time to lose some parts.

Do yourself a favor...pull the EGR bolts out of the manifold and never sieze them.

Wow nice ride! That's a hell of a work truck!

Well it better be, it's got some big shoes to fill, this is my previous work truck. 2003 7.3, with 300k on her. These pics were taken two weeks ago, the day I sold her.

As you can see she was in great shape even after hauling my tools to jobsites every day for the last 13 years. She never left me stranded and did everything I asked of her. Lets hope the new ones proves to be just as good or better!
