sanding and colour matching valance

any body got any steps to sanding there valance smooth and colour mathcing it thanks

Easier to scuff it and use a high build primer to get it smooth.

On my 05 xl the top of the front bumper was originally black textured plastic, decided I wanted it painted when the truck got painted. I started out sanding by hand with 3m scuff pads but it was simply way too much work. I used the DA on it, took out all the texture, the body shop used high build primer before paint and it looks right to me
