Stupid EGR question

Just pulled the valve, yes I still have it, I live in lousy CA. Anyway, valve was a little cruddy, cleaned it up, but can still see daylight under the plunger when its closed, not much, but still can see it. My logic is that the plunger should sit flush, right? Gonna replace it anyway, just curious about this.

Yep fully closed should be just that. Fully closed no gap at all

What I did with mine when I had my 04 since I live in the same state, weld it shut and tune it out.

I probably should have, but put in a BPD cooler instead. Live and learn I guess haha
