Short answer no. Long answer noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. A gate is nice but not needed if you stay off the bottle.

I hate to cheap out on such a life saving piece of equipment but the cost and extra complication isn't worth it for me since I'm not doing any bottle or planned fuel upgrades whatsoever. Just lots of air and max stock fuel
