Trans slippage plus codes

So... 4R100 is slipping in first gear. All other gears seem to be fine and the converter seems to be locking/unlocking like it should. Overdrive light blinked. This happened after a hard pull up a hill. Codes P0782 and P0732. Fluid is brown, stronger smell obviously then normal. Temp never got over 170. What I'm basically wondering is, is it pretty much time for a rebuild? I have nothing else to drive currently so I'm screwed. I found a few other threads that these codes were mentioned (saw some good info from Mark) but didn't really see anything about anyone getting full rebuilds afterwards. Thanks for any help...

Drain and refill with walmart compatible fluid and see what happens. Don't beat on it until you get some money to rebuild it.
