Recently had it apart, the aux trans cooler line fittings were seized on ended up ruining the cooler cut the lines off. I ordered a new cooler(motorcraft) and lines originally were dorman tried saving money. Purchased new unions for the radiator from ford and the output from the radiator to aux cooler the line within the fitting was loose and was not long enough to seat the flare. I ordered a new line from ford directly it was 12" to short and that one had the same exact issue.

The fitting is 5/8-18 inverted flare straight thread and the other 17.2 mm or .687 to large to be metric and to big for 11/16, 1.25 thread pitch or it is screw thread

Ended up using a 37 degree JIC with a o-ring in the bottom 90 degree to pipe thread and 3/8 parker push lock line.

I would rather not have it hacked together I'd rather fix it correctly I cannot find the correct line in the aftermarket or oe. Has anyone run into this issue lately or know a part number for the correct one.

Shouldn't need to replace the fittings unless they were leaking. I just did all of this a yr ago on a 2002. IIRC there are several 'line' options available based on engine. The guy at the dealership doesn't always double check part #s to see if its the right one.

Did you go with a stock cooler or the 6.0?

Build date before or after Feb 01?

I had the same problem last weekend! Dorman lines as well from RockAuto... NEVER AGAIN! Descriptions were terrible and it was a guess and check to get things to work. I too had to hack some things together... pulled lines off the radiator from a junkyard truck and shot 'em with brake cleaner. I hadn't replaced the cooler, but was doing an upgrade for my '00 to include the radiator cooler. Now I'm sitting on two dorman lines (~$95 for the pair) and can only assume they connect to the aux cooler. (flare fittings on one end, rubber hose on the other) Found the part numbers... dorman 624291 and 624466. Now I find this!!! Looks like the fitting on the left would have been the ticket: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=3843705&cc=1372519&jsn=446:fustrate:
