In Colorado the only difference would be combination. You would need to take your practical test with a tractor and trailer

The way I understand it if the vehicle and trailer gcvwr is over 26k it can be used in the test so I should be able to get it with my truck and trailer

Yup, here a I know guy got pulled over and they gave him a nice big fine, storage box on the front of the trailer in-between the rails for the chains and binders didn't have a lid. Never came with one from the factory. Tried to tell them that but they didn't care

Wow, I would be furious about that. I've sold quite a few goosenecks that had a chain box between the neck without a lid, never did I think that would be an issue.

pretty sure it also needs air brakes

You can have your class A without the air brake endorsement. If the pickup and trailer are over 26k it can be used to take the class A test around here.

DOT has been bad lately. They are redoing a weigh station on 83 so all those officers had just been riding around. My cousins got hit hard with their lowboy last year

what I am hearing is if you can "tip the truck upside down" and have nothing fall out, you don't get a ticket. they were going after landscapers and people mowing lawns pretty hard around here, I haven't heard too much about them going after pickups yet, but I'm sure it's coming at least when they already have you pulled over.

That's some bs. I am in Illinois and they also go buy the raiting on the truck and trailer combined. I will find out Monday if I am approved for the 25+5 Elite with a 24500 pound raiting so I guess I will start studying up on the class A cdl lol. I already have a class B cdl with air brakes can anyone tell me what is involved in upping to an A?

Every state is different...in WV you would have to do it all over again except the written on air brakes but here your written test for A includes a bunch of questions on air brakes whether you want that endorsement or not.

I have my class A. I'm restricted from tractor trailer and air brakes. I didn't have a truck with air brakes to take the test in. It sucks cause now I need to get my air brakes. I have to retake the written part for air brakes and redo the whole driving test.

That will be a h#ll of a setup.
I hope so I got sick of having to borrow a trailer every time I needed one so I decided to buy one. It's probably about three times the size that I need but I like the saying go big or go home lol. That and I would rather have to much than not enough

IMO it is smart to go with a trailer bigger than you think you need. Seems like I always end up running across something I need to tow that is bigger than the trailer can handle.

When I had to tow my own truck with a friends Cummins. This was to go do my axle swap.
