It's rediculous...heavy ass steel crank, and they bend and crack....WTF???

For the $3100.00 the Stealership want for a new crank, you'd think they would stand up a lil better then they do...

3100?! You can buy a complete engine for that much.

Garrett

Probably getting paid at work to post this from my D1

I was going to buy an E-bay engine, and sell/trade the truck off.

Gotta draw a line in the sand at some point.

I really hope Matt's build will result in him finally getting the truck to run the way it was meant to run.

Ouch on the crank. From the pic, it doesn't seem like the scarring is too deep not to be polished. Could you see any stress fractures anywhere? I would think at 3k plus for a crank, you could get an aftermarket one, if someone made such a thing.

Probably the oiling system, thats the next weak link in the 6.0. Toss the crank. Why take the chance, its gonna take so much material off too clean up. Gotta agree with Ivan, how many times do you take this beating? I love the 6.0 but damn.......

Moore O.K. Tornado alley
Oil starvation is at 7n8 correct
Never seen or heard of oil starvation at cyl 4.
Could it been a operator error? Not torqued to spec?
Not tryin to start a fight just curious.
Here at the steelership as some say
We have a 6.7l 9k miles in cyl 2 rod bearing seized
It left us scratching are heads never seen it happen
But we've only worked on 2 for big repair cracked valves now seized rod bearing

Sorry for derail

After I spoke with Jim at Cunningham Rods about what happened with my engine, I wished I never took it apart until AFTER I talked with him...
I never thought to check the torque required to take the rod caps off to see if any of them had backed off, or stretched. I just took them apart...

Definitely will be documenting all measurements on bearing clearances, etc...

Way too expensive to take any "Short Cuts" on a rebuild.....so please take your time Matt...don't want to see any more "Failures" on your truck, or anyone else's.
