Hello everyone, I am looking at buying a programmer. Im not sure which one to go with. H&S Mini Maxx or Edge Juice with Attitude. The programmer will be going on an 2006 6.0. Anyone with experience in both would be fantastic thanks.

Personally, a SCT programmer with custom tunes would be the best option for a 6.0. While the edge and the H&S is shift on the fly, the benefits of custom tunes out weighs it. Also with the price you'll be paying for a mini maxx, I can get you setup with a SCT, custom tunes, and a CTS insight for monitoring and still come in cheaper than a mini maxx. We offer custom tunes from gearhead which are awesome on the 6.0's. Matt builds some great tunes for these trucks. Shoot me a PM and I can get you a quote for everything.

Yes I get that but there will be more done to the 6.0 after the programmer install. I don't want to have to keep paying to the tune to change with any add ons. At least with the other to it will help tie in the mods. to work better. not looking to 1,000ft lbs of torque and 600-700 hp.
I found the edge for $300, and a almost new mini maxx for around 1200ish

exactly the reason you should go with what Cody suggested.

SCT all the way, with the custom tunes will still keep you way under what a minimax will run. Also, most tuners out there will charge you for the tunes, then only a small fee to adjust the tunes as you change your truck.

both tuners are used and already have tunes in them. There unlocked and not stuck to one vin. I just do want to have to keep paying for the truck to be retuned after anything is done to truck after the tune is put in it. If I do go with SCT how much does that run and how much for each additional retune after?

That's the beauty with gearhead, the retunes are typically little or no cost. You don't have to buy a full tune set again for the adjustments. If you get the parts from me too, being a psa member, I'll take care of ya. With the edge and the mini maxx, your locked to those tunes and those tunes only. The edge does not turn off the egr anymore, and the mini maxx you cannot MCC custom tune for bigger injectors, turbo's, etc.

I will add, most bolt ons like air intake, lift pump, intercooler piping, egr delete, etc don't need tune adjustments. The truck will compensate itself for that. The tunes already have the tuning set for a egr being gone from gearhead. The only time you really need a re-tune is if your studded and want to make more power, add bigger injectors, turbo, built trans, etc. Other than that, the custom tunes will take care it already.

01pwstrkr: haha so true.

Cody I hear what your saying and you as well powerstrokedkid. I do like the idea of having a monitor as well and select on the fly level of performance. I did talk to edge to day on the phone and I can get a brand new Juice with cts for $450 with military discount.
Cody you are kind far for me to drive my truck to your shop. I am thinking I will be going to powerstrokedkids shop and have some work on the truck done that I cant do myself on this base.
Not that I'm not considering what you both have said, but I wanted something other than just a custom tune. That's why I was asking what others have liked between edge and H&S. Thanks again for your input.

to the OP...sounds like you are pretty set in your ways-why ask for advice?? if most ppl are saying the same thing, perhaps there may be a reason?

Lets not forget that the trans tuning with a custom tune is bein overlooked here, I ran a xrt pro for about 6 months till I tried a custom tune and never regretted that for a second. The shift on the fly option is just asking for trouble if you ask me, only way I would even think about that is if I had a manual tranny, even then I would more than likely use a custom tune

Well SOOTIE if you get like that why not read the title of my post. Ok I'll just tell you hear cause I guess you missed it. I was asking about two different programmers not a tuner or custom tune. I also thanked everyones input on there suggestions about get a tuner and custom tunes. Which I also mentioned that I did think about what they said.
So now thank you SOOTIE for your input aswell.

exactly my point....we are trying to steer you in a direction that will make you and your truck happy. i personally couldn't care less if you wish to stick with tuners and tunes that will provide less than stellar performance...suit yourself. the beauty of this place is that members let others learn from their mistakes. we just don't want to see you spend an bunch of money and you not be happy....because guess where you will come to gripe...

i run gearhead tunes always, when i got my warren comp trans i never got the tune adjusted for it. did i go wrong with this? trans shifts perfect and acts as it should.

I ran an Edge Juice w/ Attitude Platinum on my 04 6.0. I wouldn't say it was a power house but I liked the added functions like the turbo timer and all that. It was a decent deal but I had an SCT X3 with custom tunes that I enjoyed a lot better. Overall, I did like the Edge it ran good and I never had an issue... Never ran an H&S on the 6.0 though.
