What other than the fuel system is different in an idi turbo and a powerstroke?

How hard would it be to swap in a 7.3 PSD to my truck?

Not gonna do it, just curious is all

not hard, I just did one, the trick is you basically need a donor truck to swap everything. pull engines, swap engine bay harness, harness behind dash, and harness to the rear of the truck, then put the psd in

I was curious cause i saw a write up on putting mechanical injection in a psd that gave unreal power and was wondering why more people didnt juice up the idi turbo trucks.

From the little research I have done, its seems the be the general consensus that the blocks can't take the powa.

Hypermax did, made huge power back in the day. Couldn't keep the thing together though. But it was no longer an IDI, it was a p-pumped 7.3l V-8.

you could delete the prechambers and put an inline pump in the valley...... that would effectively flex your block enough to push the freezeplugs out.

Understanding the differences in combustion cycle and the overall shape of the two chambers will clear up the WHY?

Guy on PSA is making 400+HP with his IDI, and no signs of block flex.

With a block fill and a girdle, I don't see why these engine couldn't handle the power.

Its not that they can't its that its not feasible.... the tard on PSA has so much time and money into the build, he would have been better off buying a PSD.

with enough time and money anything can be done, but it shouldnt always be done.

I am an IDI fan FWIW.....they are damn good motors.... I just am tired of people thinking that they are the first one to mistakingly think that they could easily make mad power with one

I used to think that he was a tard, but he has proven himself, more than once, go checkout the vids he posted, you can't tell me that's not impressive.

And I never said power out of an IDI was cheap or easy, but to say "they can't handle the power" is total bullsh*t.
