Haha great service in sending out free pumps and hoping that he eventually gets a good one. I dont understand why more people dont run Fass systems honestly.

If I was to buy again now, it would be FASS... Getting stranded blows.

Because the FASS systems have the same problems.

I went through 3 pump motors before I sold it with another new motor on it.

Once stranded at the Home Depot...cost me over $90.00 for the tow home.

Once down in Ohio, 2500 miles from home,

And once leaving for work at 3:00 am...wife loved the fact that she had to drive 3 hours to drop me off, and another 3 hours back home...and then come pick me up 2 weeks later...

That was enough good customer service for me...I went back to my Aeromotive pump setup.

Don't hear as much complaining about FASS stuff as you do AD though.

Ive ran air dog and fass... Wasnt happy with fass after a couple motors went out(but sold it to bluewaffle and dont think hes had a problem with it). But never had a air dog failure, i have installed close to 50 of them here at my shop from stock power to 600 hp and no issues..... guess i been lucky!

Oh and BTW i would say 520-530 hp with Pmax and 190's, i got 5 customers truck with this setup with dyno sheets and track times to prove it all low 13's. Trans has held in everyones with that setup, all daily drivers, tow rigs, trips to the race track and a crazy cajun drives one of them with one pedal to the floor at all times. Only 5R110 failure i seen was with RCD 68mm and 190's on a truck i built that had 150k miles, smoked the famous direct clutches pretty shortly but there was some tuning issues that could have caused that but who knows!

Thanks for all the responses guys. The reason I am getting a pmax is because my stock is pretty much junk. I can really only afford a pmax right now, and i have heard good things as well as bad things about them (just like any other part). it was getting hard to read until i read broncof250444's comment, then i got happy again. haha. but, I am open to suggestions on other parts, but my budget is 3500 bucks maximum. like bronco said, the pmax, 190s, and airdog seem like a pretty good set up. and im glad to hear that it sounds like the trans will do alright, i tow a race trailer on the weekends, and do drive like a dumb kid a little bit, but if i wasnt looking for fun, then i would just keep my truck stock! and who should i go to for custom tuning? estimated price?

Thanks guys!

dude mad turbo werks turbo will outflow that pmax any day of the week and is cheaper! save money where you can and get something thats better for the truck! wouldnt run a airdog but then again if one comment out of 2 pages says that the airdog is good and thats enough for you then go for it! me personally have went through 3 of them and wont buy another and dont reccomend my customers to get them either. ask all the big guys and i bet they say the same thing which is dont run a airdog! now this is the airdog II that im talking about. if you just want a helper pump then id say the airdog would prob be ok but the airdog II still hasnt proven that it will hold up like a fuel lab or aeromotive

I'm assuming all you guys that have FASS pumps have the high pressure units....right? Cause i've been running a low pressure FASS for nearly 7 years with no issues.

haha...there's no way the truck would even run if that was my only pump. Low pressure pumps aren't designed to be run by themselves. The low pressure pump systems only put out 14-15psi. I ran it feeding the stock pump(which is what its intended to do) for over 3 years. Then ditched the factory pump and installed a fuelab pump. I've been running the low pressure FASS feeding the fuelab for nearly 4 years...no issues and fuel pressure stays at 60psi

Everyone hates on the pmax, but that charger will take serious abuse LOL. I had my pmax on for about a year and a half, probably put 30,000 miles on it, with over 10 passes on the track, pegging the upper 1700's, and over spinning it 10psi out of its map, and it was still in good condition when I sold it, and its still on the buyers truck today, doing great.

random q about ficm tuning. how does that work? same way as a tune that i load from my programmer or what? also, i have a hot start issue when i pull the race trailer on the weekends. is it possible that it is the ficm? that is what we have narrowed it down to, but its kind of hit and miss. and if i dont go with an airdog or fass, it sounds like fuel lab or aeromotive? whats better about those?

that went over my head a little bit. i thought that an airdog/fass/whatever was meant to replace the stock pump?

Was gonna say... Ok cool. Sorry, just looking for a good setup.

FICM tuning works great on stock injectors. 190s will just smoke more... I wouldn't get the FICM tuning.

You need a low pressure pump to feed a high pressure pump for a reliable setup. A single pump like the AD just can't handle it.

if you have a hot start issue... It's more than likely the HPOP not the FICM. They's different ways to build a fuel system. What pumps you use depends on how you want to build it.

i have stock fuel, with the stuff in my siggy. 8250 lb truck. it scoots to the tune of 13.7. so the handy dandy calc on the top of the PSA site says low/mid 500 HP. my trans held, until i ran the tune up a bit, then it held, the transfer case from falling and that was about it. i have to ask Andy what happened inside mine to fail. it did have 135K on it. i went with a new trans but you will like the Pmax (but it is a loud Mutha Effer), but if i did it again, i would go stage 1 or 2 from MTW.

Both FASS and Airdog have different kinds of pump systems...either low pressure or high pressure. It all depends on how you want to build it. Airdog has the airdog150 which is a low pressure pump system and they also have the airdog2 Which is their high pressure pump system that many have had issues with
