Im relatively new to all the diy mods out there and have performed a few on my 01 250. Ive done the fpr mod, pulled the plunger out of the fuel filter guide, drilled the head plugs, modded the tps, cold air intake, and have just performed the icp mod. Here lies my question. Ive readed dozens of posts on the famed 10k mod....and a 5.9k mod and so forth and so on. All of the low resistance mods tend to lend toward idling problems and transmission slip and cel indicators and such. But there was a branch i read titled "forget the 10k mod go with 22k". After examining the logic of this offshoot it made more sense to me. Further testing showed that a resistance of around 15k performed the best. I first installed a 10k resistor and was very pleased with it, so i snatched it out and threw a 15k in the icp and it blew me away. A ts 140hp on my obs didnt perform this well! Why would someone gi with low resistance and a ton of issues when the 15k mod doesnt affect my shift points, my idling, and my throttle response as far as a delay as mentioned in the low res. mods? Best 50 cents ive ever spent and my truck hauls a** withouth spending a whole dollar on any of my mods combined. Id love to hear any feedback on this!

I just find it hard to believe a person so cheap or poor would drive a truck that costs so much to operate

Ive read the mods on plenty of forums including this one. And its nice to see that some people on here welcome new members with open arms....a**holes. Im neither cheap nor poor. I can make your paycheck in three days. I have three beautiful children that i concentrate all of my time and money on so i know the value of a dollar. Im an ASE certified auto mechanic and while the majority of my experience lies within gasoline vehicles my experience may not be that strong in diesel fueled. I do know however that small adjustments do tend to multiply to the overall performance of engines. The tps sensor on the fuel pedal is a 3 wire 5v reference sensor. with physical modification the mounting on the sensor can be made to manually adjust the tps. A .7 volt idle reading and theoretically a 5v wot would be desireable.search for the mod and do it on your truck, whereas 4v sometimes is rareley ever seen at wot. Theres no dead spot to worry about off idle and full voltage input to the pcm can be seen. Sorry im not a tool who relies on the manufacturers to come out with the latest and greatest to burn your paycheck up. Do the math, do the research, and turn a damn wrench. Or you can let someone with more skill do it for you. You think Gale Banks sat on his ass and let a programmer fall on his lap or did he work for what hes got?

Welcome to the site. With that attitude, I can see some fun coming.

My truck was built in my driveway, with my non ASE certified work done on it.

Been building in my driveway too, it's more enjoyable that way. My little girl likes sitting behind the wheel while I'm working.

The thing is that the mods you have done...... no one really does them anymore due to the fact that on a 7.3 a 6 position chip is far better than any resistor mod you install on a 7.3, and that is after people have spent years of time developing and refining each tune so each truck and owner is happy.

ill play! makes a guy sound like a complete douche when he smarts off like that!

if i could make $3500.00 in three days i would be come a ASE certified douche..... and every other tom, dick, and hairy would too.

OP, if you claim to make that much and can afford these trucks, why would you try these cheap mods that WILL eventually wreak havoc on your electrical system... did you read up on that portion of the mods you have done? just about every mod you listed will eventually mess up connections and mess up your truck... most of us have tried one thing or another to try to save a buck, but in the end it is not worth it at all...

btw, welcome.... id recommend getting those cheapass mods out and getting a good custom tuned ts chip from one of our vendors... i suppose you have a cone filter on your CAI too dont ya? or did you actually come across the diy cai for a 7.3 and put a Donaldson/6637 filter on it?

I haven't had this much fun in a while. Donaldson sucks, I only use wix filters. And all this crappie from a guy with a welded diff "lincolnlocker". Don't give me grief about my stuff when you do something as stupid as weld on a piece of tempered steel such as a carrier. You could have just bought a spool or a real locker instead. I didn't start this argument, others did.

lmfao!! thats good chit right there^^^.... yeah cuz id weld the rear of the trucks that i drive daily!! i use a detroit trutac homie! and also shows how much more you know about air filters!! if your running the wix 46637 air filter, 8 out of 10 times it will be the donaldson filter in the wix box... the donaldsons are hydrophobic and the wix are not... so what air filter do you run?

I already have a trail vehicle, henceforth I do not care about the hydrophobic efficiency of my air filter homie. I our factory filter was not hydrophobic so what the hell does it matter? I drive my truck on the highway not under water. It's behind the battery box anyhow.

You have no idea what someone on here makes. I know how a 10k mod runs and how my chip runs. I'll run for pinks any day. You pick the truck I run. Coming on here spatting stuff off like that to people and giving false info is what isnt sitting well.

Bruce is the guy that put the whole "cheap and poor' thing out there. It was directed toward him.
And the fact that everyone else decides to jump in on the beating displays the whole kick em while they're down mob mentality. Didn't want to come in here looking for advice and leaving like Rodney king. I figured a moderator would have jumped in already.
