Protecting chrome shock finish

Just got a good deal on a set of chrome fox shocks in good cond just wondering what kinda preventative maintenance I can do to protect them from corrosion? Live in south tx so salt on the road isn't an issue but go to the beach often in the summer.

I'd try the clear vinyl first, but if it takes away from the chrome I'd try just waxing the shocks pretty often. And definitely spray them off after you go to the beach.

avoid the beach.. that will start rusting out the rest of your truck as well.

There are some pretty bad ass coatings out there, but that requires complete disassembly and some $$$. You can definitely try what others have suggested. I think the vinyl is a great idea. But the best thing I have used is just plain ole WD40. It GOES a long way and I know it sucks to clean up, but it works. This summer though I am going to disassemble my shocks and coilovers and have them all professionally coated. That way I don't have to keep hosing them down all the time.

Honestly the worst stuff I have been on is not the beach. Which didn't do anything to my shocks. It is the de-icer chemicals used during the winter. That will eat up the stock coating on shocks.

I just picked up a product called shine seal. Some motorcycle people I know use it to keep their high polished parts coated. according to their website its good for "up to 2 years" I just had my coilovers polished, so hopefully this does the trick. Haveny used it yet but people who recommended it swear by it....atleast to me.

How are your coilovers holding up? I couldn't remember if it was you or someone else that just parks the truck during the winter??? Due to how crappy it is in the winter where you are at.

I usually park the truck, but its been all apart since were rebuilding the engine again, and making some changes. I honestly haven't even pulled the coil overs out of the box they shipped back to me in!....il have to give an updated come springtime

Google shine seal, it is about $100 for a kit. I've been recommended this as well.

exactly, I think I actually ended up getting it through amazon, think it was 99$ shipped to me. comes with a polish, sealant, and another product. Appears to be pretty descent, il get some more info tonight and get it posted up

Shine Seal is supposed to be the new and improved Zoop Seal, which everyone loved.
