Left from a deleted 6.4. Went to a 6.7, deleted it ran custom tunes. After a year, there is lots to be desired vs a 6.4.

A big part of me is wanting to switch back to a 6.4. Love my 6.7 just not a fan of the long box, gear ratios being to low and the fear of dropping a valve(early model 2011) ugh..

Anyone else have these thoughts? Seems like what ford is coming out with in 2015 is what they should of came out with in 2011.

Could be the wrong forum btw, I figured it was aftermarket related though.

I bought a 6.7 about a month ago and deleted yesterday. I am just running the canned H&S Tunes, and haven't really even got on it too hard yet but I will soon enough.

I am also coming from a 6.4 that just had the HPFP fail, and it took all 8 injectors with it. It should be fixed next week and I am probably looking at a 5-8k bill.... I guess I have to worry about the turbo on the 6.7, but a turbo is cheap compared to a HPFP and 8 injectors! The 6.4 was deleted and I ran the 300HD tune, it was damn quick in my opinion.

I realize that my 6.7 may have as much as 100hp less than the 6.4 did but I don't really care. I never took my 6.4 down the track, never pulled it, nor will I do either with my 6.7. The 6.7 seems darn quick now, and I still can't get over all the turbo whistle I get with it compared to my 6.4 and the amazing sound! I am so glad I went with a 5" DP back over a 4" DP back!

Sorry to say it but you got hosed. Bosch aftermarket value on those parts is $6 or less for cp4 and 8 injectors. Sooo, $8k in labor and a generous $1k for small parts and extras? I'm game if anyone needs that work done! I'll put you at the front of the line for that price.

Seriously, that sucks. But you just can't blindly pay dealers asking price and post it here as gospel for what things cost.

Thats via ford and in canada lol. Right now with our exchange rate, add 10% to that.
When hpfp goes they replace HPFP, LPFP, injectors, all fuel lines, everything. Anyways. We did an engine re/re from a wreck truck it still was $12k otd at $80/hr.

we've replaced a few complete 6.7 fuel systems that Ford wouldn't honor the warranty on.

so it's not like the 6.7 is an ace-in-the-hole in that regard

6.4 turbo setup is stronger than the 6.7 turbo. 6.4 is capable of more power with factory fuel.

I contend if you run a 6.4 at 475-500rwhp, it's more reliable than a 6.7 at the same power level.

Not dogging the 6.7. I keep finding myself shopping them. I love the interior and the 6sp w/ select shift, etc. But I do feel that the 6.4 is an overall better buy for the money

Ahh, didn't mean to be a jacka**. And being in Canada limits what you can do.

I like them both for sure. I do think a 6.7 with an aftermarket turbo changes the whole mixup a lot....

Yeah i also love the interior and 6sp with select shift. I was throwing around the idea of running a GT4094 and that would take care of my hp issues lol. I would be farther off ahead putting $5k into my current truck, vs paying the 12% tax all over again to get into a 6.4.

I want closer to 600+ rwhp. That's what I had in my 6.4 and loved it.

It is aggravating that we are even having this discussion. Either we were spoiled rotten with the 6.4, or ford really dropped the ball on the 6.7. I want more power than a delete is gonna do, but I hate the thought of going deep in the engine on a brand new truck. Not to mention what it will cost. I don't have the guts to throw a dual fueler and turbo on there without doing rods. I drive it too hard...

Why, 6.4's crack pistons, drop lifters, bend pushrods, have as many or way more issues than a 6.7 does with just tunes. You can't complain that you want 600hp from a stock truck and be utterly reliable.... There is no such thing from any manufacturer. My 6.7 on stock fuel and a 66mm is a blast to drive. Don't miss a 6.4 at all since the turbo went on.

Oh and we have replaced a lot of bent 6.4 rods on stock fuel stock turbo trucks. Anyone can break anything if you drive like a clown. Stock 6.4 bottom ends are not bullet proof at all. I don't care who tells you that. It's all on how you drive determines how it will last.

Im finding my deleted 6.7 a blast to drive with the stock turbo! I see you own a diesel shop, not too farm from where I am. (2 hrs roughly) If my turbo ever goes and I want to replace it with something more reliable how much roughly would that run?

It depends on what kind of options you want. I'd say anywhere from 3-6k depending on the turbo and what piping options you'd like with your kit. We are doing out best to get these kits rolling. Just takes time.

Which turbo are you running?

I am set on Elite's Garret turbo kits I think. Not sure I want to venture into the ceramic bearing that's air cooled. Going either a GT3794 or a Garrett GT4094. I do tow our horse trail a dozen times a year but that's only 8000lbs max.

Plus doesn't a stock chev come with a GT3794? I think the GT4094 is the way to go, don't want same as a stock chev. lol

Ford is running a GT3788 in 2015 so a GT3794 isn't much of a jump.

Only real difference is the bigger turbine wheel. They come with a very similiar to a 3794 charger but there are a few differences. A 3794 is most similiar to an 04.5-05 stock charger. The rest are all smaller.

If you want a vgt kit we are working on one. But I don't really recommend it with stock rods but if your not crazy it will live I'm sure.

Our kit is utilizing s300 based chargers. I just got back from an 1800 mile round trip grossing 28000 lbs with my truck running the 66 single. Egt's never went over 1050* on the tow tune.
