actually , they break just as easy lol . dont ask me how i know.

Word! My buddy did head gaskets on a customers 6.4 and put it back together with ported heads and RCD turbo's, and i think RCD manifolds and up pipes. Stock fueling and it cracked a piston on the first test drive. The H&S was still on stock. LOL

Pretty odd they didnt see and cracking of the piston lip.

so what you are telling me is to pull the motor before its gets studded and pull the stock pistons and have them delipped before they crack and save myself the time of paying to pull the cab twice? then give it hell?

if you pull the pistons out to delip them, may as well put IH pistons in. its cheap.

That was my original plan, along with not having to pull the cab two or three times, at 1000 dollars each time. once is good enough for me. I can think of better ways to spend a 1000 dollars that would do a lot more for me.

Take a die grinder and a flapper wheel and buff the lip off in the block. Clean everything really good and your good to go. May not be the best way but it's a possibility.

Paying my dues.

Dues.JPG

Head slipped when lowering it with the hoist. Chain bound up slightly and the head came down. Wasn't sure if it contacted the block so I raised it up again to inspect it. Couldn't see any damage and I was going to climb down off the front. Foot slipped on the bumper and I grabbed the block to steady myself. Grabbed the gasket instead. Sliced it almost to the bone, and damn near clean off. Cant even stitch it. Perfect. Cant tear stitches when there are none. Back at it tomorrow, but likely wont get it running by Monday now. Worst part is I bent the gasket enough that I dont want to use it. Ordered and extra just in case. Kids helping now, so planning for the worst. Haha. If wrenching was a video game he would be a master tech.... But it's not.
