I'm not completely sure and have wondered the same. I recently had a local salvage yard quote me $1700 for both axles, suspension, and all necessary parts.
A better option might be SolidWorks. I have very little experience with it but it seems that is a good mechanical design and 3D software program. We used it in college so I'm not sure about what it would cost to get a personal version.
I'm very interested in this. I've been running 205's with a regulated return for a while with no issues. I'd just like to do this before stepping up my turbo. Part of the problem now becomes accessing the top of the fuel tank in my Excursion.
