With my experience with auto trans the more fluid you have the cooler temps stay and heat kills an automatic trans. With that being said I have zero experience with the 5r110

Just throwing this out there, I had the same issue and was getting ready to air test mine and I did an oil change switching from rotella to motorcraft 15 w40 and the problem was gone immediately. Any idea what oil is in your truck?

I was about to start a thread asking the same questions. I'm also looking for ways to increase the life and power I can put to the stock trans. I'm not a fan of the "drive it till it breaks" because it'll never break on my terms. I was thinking maybe a billet input shaft and a suncoast shift...
What's recommended as far as maintenance? My truck has 111k on it and not knowing if it's ever had a trans fluid change kinda scares me to do so. I've owned it since 90k

So what would one do to make the stock trans live longer at say the 600hp mark? Converter? A deeper pan with cooling fines? I'd rather make some trans upgrades to increase the life before adding more hp.

Is there a chance the gearing is different in the 2 trucks? I don't know if all the super duty's came with the same rear gears

Traction bars are in the works, I'm trying to find a good way to mount them on the axle. I was thinking maybe a rear lower shock mount welded on but I can't get those separately.
