Fail safe is 4th gear if trans has no power to it this is what will happen. You can check for 12v at pin 12 red with yellow tracer. Solenoid connector in known to get corroded as well.

Red eagle clutches suck IMO. They are to hard and will glaze causing problems especially on a trans that is adaptive. All it takes is a few flair shift which 5r's will do every once in a while and he clutches are glazed. I have had horrible luck with red eagle will never use them again. Sent...

Contamination in the add on cooler can cause all sorts of problems it's never good to have metal or clutch going through a fresh trans. It also could be misaligned tcc bushing in the pump. Did you try stock tunes?

Either replace the solenoid or get a modified. You may also want to check line pressure to see if it is in spec. Did you check for pressure regulator valve bore wear bad bore can cause very erratic pressure. How did direct air check.
