    Piston bowl volume is virtually identical between the early and late style pistons, but the early pistons are a narrower, deeper bowl. I much prefer the later pistons. That being said, it won’t “hurt” anything to run the early style pistons. Injector cone angle, etc didn’t change through the years.

    You didn’t say anything about hot start issues, so if it starts fine hot, you didn’t hurt the spoolvalves. 3.4-3.6 volts ICP is low, just not as low as 2.2-2.5 volts. I personally have never seen a stock hpop maintain good ICP with 205’s. Especially with 100% nozzles. Good tuning will...

    First one I’ve seen that had run time and you could tell that the pistons were coated. I’m surprised a Maxxforce piston cracked.

    0.035” clearance is considered the minimum. I’d cut the pistons you have and/or set valve recession deeper before spending for fly cut pistons. The coating is gonna disappear after a few minutes of run time anyway.
