With no power to the IPR, generally the IPR drain port(s) are open and oil just goes back to the sump. If for some reason the IPR's spool is stuck to where the drain port(s) are closed, you would be getting full pressure all the time. Let me know if you need the pinpoint tests for P1280. Cheers!

    No Start Help Please!

I would probably pull the PCM and at least look at its condition (if you haven't done so already) and for possible water intrusion. I had my 94's PCM go out. It wouldn't provide the ground for the IPR power circuit (P1283), but at least it still communicated. Cheers!

You could try filling the rails. When I had the HP Oil Rail end plugs go bad, I refilled the rails with a small funnel in the forward-most top-surface head ports (ICP port and corresponding opposite side) since the engine tilts backward. Took my time and waited for all air bubbles to come out...

Turbo pedestal oil leak after replacing O rings

Oil passages are still open, both supply and drain. The duct tape on the top was to keep filings from getting in the passages. Closed up the solenoid hole as well. This was on my 94, so no Cali versions at that time. Cheers!

Turbo pedestal oil leak after replacing O rings

I know if I ever get rid of the EBPV on my Cali 97, I will only get a genuine Garrett non-EBPV pedestal. At any rate I modified my 94's pedestal way back in the day. I had someone weld up the holes and weld in some plates to cover the large opening from removing the actuator cylinder. I was...

    engine/tranny pull?

If you have a manual trans, there is no sense in leaving the clutch with the trans (torque converter with an auto, yes). The clutch can remain bolted to the flywheel when the engine is removed. You're going to have to line up the clutch disk with the flywheel pilot bearing anyway. Cheers!

    What is this plug?

As mentioned, the plug is for the DRLs. It either gets a DRL module plugged in (for DRLs) or it has a "shorting plug" inserted (for trucks without DRLs). That one looks like the plug is installed. Cheers!

    FORScan and adapters

I've done a buzz test and KOEO tests with it and FORScan Lite (iPhone 7) on my 97. I haven't tried a contribution test. Cheers!

    Ticking/Exhaust Leak?

In a nutshell: When the engine is in the 11 o'clock position, there is a drain path for oil to drain from lifter galleries. If it is not and there is residual oil pressure, when the pushrod is removed the lifter can jack up (effectively get longer ... they are hydraulic lifters vice solid...

    Ticking/Exhaust Leak?

Remember to put the engine in the 11 o'clock position when removing/reinstalling pushrods, otherwise you can get "lifter jacking" from residual oil pressure. Cheers!

    Ticking/Exhaust Leak?

Have you checked the exhaust manifold(s)-to-head areas? It is fairly common for the bolts to break. Also there is no gasket from the factory, although they are available. Cheers!
