    swapping a single injector

It all depends on how much time you want to spend. I have a vacuum set up with a piece of 3/16 brake tubing on the end of the hose that will fit through the injector hole and reach down into the piston bowl and suck all the oil out. I still spin it over without the glow plug. If I'm doing a...

97 7.3 white (grey?) Smoke under acceleration (sometimes)

How many miles on the injectors? External orings are a possibility, however not the only one. How is the blowby? (should be good considering the oil consumption). Done a compression test in a while? How is the performance? Does it have any skips or misses especially at different...

    CCV catch can location

Peroni has a nice write up on his with pics. I used his basic layout but didn't have access to a beautifully machined bracket to mount it to the IDM so I used a nice aluminum plate attached to the two holes originally used for a gasser or IDI cruise control, puts it in the corner in front of the...

    CCV Filter Installed

I have only installed one on a PSD, mine, no oil leaks. I have installed the Donaldson Spirical CCV units on many L-10 and M11 Cummins with zero issues, kind of liked them because the bottom of the truck was cleaner. I think we all worry too much because we can. When I got the new Mann unit...

Current Motorcraft Steering Linkage Part Numbers

Reading that I see that WIX filters now belong to Mann-Hummel. Meantime Baldwin Filters now belong to Parker.......... I have pics of a tie rod roll eliminator I came up with. Poly washer, 2 machined "cups" No Roll. Couple hours on an old lathe for the washers.

Current Motorcraft Steering Linkage Part Numbers

My point exactly, not sure Motorcraft is as trustable as it once was. XRF not as good in my experience as the hype. So Moog isn't what it was, and TRW became Dana / Spicer?

Current Motorcraft Steering Linkage Part Numbers

Agreed on the XRF, I fell in with the crowd and ordered, the tie rod roll was an issue. I made a pair of "cups" and a urethane washer and so far no roll issues. Way easier to control on the Moog on my other F350. Not sure you can trust Motorcraft either though.

    Obs shortbed frame

I have a 96 F250 ECSB 2x2 parts truck, CA truck almost to cherry to part no rust. Not sure how I can help you though being out here. I bought it for the bed to go on our crew cab.

    Zf5 slave cylinder question

In my experience (used to have a feet of these plus my own) I never bother with the bleed screw much. With slave installed, push the clutch fork towards the cylinder (rear of the truck). Slowly. Then release slowly. On the way back out it draws fluid into slave cyl. on the way in, it squeezes...

    Exhaust valves

Personally I would just get the valves ground unless they are so bad they won't grind. New valves on the old seats will work but not optimal.

    Coolant recovery tank

Since my wife plans to drive this truck till she dies I think I will put a PSP tank on the list to buy even though I just recently changed the plastic one, had been sitting on a new Ford one for a while.

    Poor fuel mileage

They have to be connected since one measures distance traveled and the other measures time vs distance traveled. If the distance traveled portion is off, the whole thing is off. The distance measurement portion measures rotations and works off of a calculation of rotation = x distance traveled...

    What E fuel to buy?

I would love to hear / see your experience with this kit. Do you have any pics of the layout on the engine? How was the install, fit up, layout? Does it use a true water separator 30 mic or so primary? @ mic secondary?

    What E fuel to buy?

Anyone have experience with the Mark Fuga kit? Sounds interesting. Pics or experience would be nice.

    Coolant recovery tank

In that case you have to do what you have to do.

    Coolant recovery tank

Well that is good for PSP I guess, maybe they will lower their price with more volume. I put a new tank on the 96 lately mostly because it was discolored and looked brittle. I must of had it 4 years before I had a reason to drain the coolant. Now I have the discolored one for a spare and plans...

    Coolant recovery tank

I would find a way to pony up the extra $$$ before I put Dorman on my truck. But that is just me. I live in a crappy house (that is paid for) so I can have good stuff.

Swamp's 7.3 Cam and Head Porting info: Great Read!

As a matter of fact I have spoken to him twice in the past few days. He indicated it was Jonathan's project and he had all the data on a laptop that died with no backup. Dave also indicated that Jonathan or Jimmy could likely recite the findings, but they had never recreated them. This is why...

    sd radiator hoses?

Funny how things work. I had my truck 10 years before I needed to change the water pump, never touched the thermostat all that time, no leaks. Finally when I installed a new water pump I used a new stock thermostat housing / water outlet but could have re used the old one it was nearly perfect...

The Build Plan 96 F250CCSB Fuel / Turbo

We are further in agreement! Always a few fine tweaks to things to suit such as 363 to 364.5 and what dia turbine and what exhaust A/R ? Build it one build it right: I have been improving this truck since 2003. It has only been down once in that time. Back cover blew off the original HPOP.
