Rough idle and smoke at idle after fuel filter change
I drove the truck around being real easy on it and it seems to be back to normal now. Idles right and no more smoke. Beats me :shrug: my best guess is there may have been a little air in the system. I'm still learning about the 6.4 so if anybody has a theory I'm all ears. -

Yeah they both went in like they are supposed to. I did find a piece of black plastic and what looked like some very fine metal in the fuel bowl when I removed the old filter. I got the plastic bit out before I put the new filter in. I don't like where this is going, I just bought this truck 2... -

I changed the fuel filters on my truck yesterday and also removed the cover on the water separator to clean out the drain area. I cycled the key 8 times to let it purge the air. It seemed to run fine yesterday with no smoke but today I started it and it is idling rough and I'm getting smoke out... -

What causes injectors to hang open?
Where is a good place to have the injectors bench tested? I probably only put 300 miles per month on my truck, so down time to do some preventative maintenance isn't a big issue for me. -
What causes injectors to hang open?
So I've been seeing quite a few threads where people are having injectors hang open causing cracked pistons. What is causing the injectors to hang open? Contaminated fuel? Hpfp going bad? My truck has 130,000 miles on it and this has me kinda concerned. Should I be looking into replacing... -

Blew through Tranny
My 04 did some thing similar twice. I always ran Xtreme race and when it happened it would just free rev and barely move. Shut truck off, restart and shifted fine after that.- Echo

Thanks guys. This is my 3rd diesel, went from an 04 f-350 to an 95 f-350 to the current truck. Right now plans are just basic performance stuff, sct with innovative tuning, intake, exhaust, some other minor things. We will see where it goes from there lol. Hey everybody, my name is Chris. I've been lurking for a while and figured it was time to join. Just picked up an 09 f-250 a couple of months ago that had been converted to a dually. So I'll be spending most of my time in the 6.4 section reading up. Here is the truck the day after I got it.- Echo
