Trans cooler in radiator busted and mixing with coolant

As for oil, it is a toss up. Respected mechanics tell me that the only engines they see with major lubrication issues are ones that run all of the specialty oils out there. They all recommend just running name brand regular oil at regular intervals. This is for the 7.3's and before.. I dont...- dmd

7.3 problems
Lots of good suggestions. Mine did something similar, intermittent too. Turned out to be a short in the under cover harness and was taking out multiple cylinders when it happened. Then would just clear up.. New harness and pigtail and it runs much better. -

WTB: Drver side tow mirror
Thx, I got a set of the newer style square mirrors from A1. They are nice, only problem was that the paintable or chrome to cover would not click in snug. Had to use a dot of glue on the tab to make sure I didn't loose them in a car wash or a branch.- dmd

Looks like coolant trouble...
6.0 and coolant leak. Dont see EGR De-lete or oil cooler replacement on your list of completed projects. Check all of the obvious like water pump and hoses. -

Fuel bowl probably not related, but get the military grade o-ring replacements so you dont have to do it every few years. -

Are you going to run some micro bypass filter? I was looking into extended intervals but a very trusted mechanic said not too. He said just run good oil at regular intervals (about 5000 miles) and be happy for a long time. He gets extended interval trucks with wear issues he never sees on... -
Donaldson Blue 6637 air filter, better flow and filtration
I ran this style to a long time, they work great. In front of a 38r they are pretty noisy. Went to a S&B cold air dry filter with some noise baffling in the fender well, so much more quiet in the cab.- dmd

Oil filter change interval with synthetic oil
Mechanics on this board have said several times that the worn engines usually come from running synth oil. Not from the oil, it is fine. The problem is the contaminates. Just because you run synth doesnt mean that there are not the same contaminates as a good quality dyno oil.Folks like to run...
