    Diesel power challenge 2012

^^^ This is how all shops/competitors should go about their DPC endeavors. If it isn't together and tested, it's really not worth making the trip. I say the owner gets it back together, has fun testing it this summer, and reenters for DPC 2013. His chances of getting voted in will be just as...

It's there. You have to scroll down to May 19. It's kind of a weird calendar, all blockish and what not. It says it's on May 19th and in the Arena. I'm still not sure if that's a legit date yet though... Where's Jared?

Just found this. According to the Expo Gardens fairgrounds schedule (where the pulls are held in Peoria), RCD's first pull in 2012 will be May 19th...

Last I heard from Jared was that he was looking into it. Maybe he'll post up when he knows the dates.

You're right! I forgot about that. Guy running it was pretty cool, too. He was drinking what he was selling! :blitzed:

They're in Peoria. Well, they're shop is in East Peoria.

There you go! I don't know if they allow beer at their pulls or not though (I should know that, been there several times ) Good thing about their pulls is the location. There are a lot of places to go afterward around Peoria. I owe Jared a drink or two at B-dubs after bailing on him last...

Everybody could meet up at one of RCD's pulls this spring or summer? Watch the pulls or hook your truck, then grab some drinks...

    SD Intakes vs. OBS Intakes

I agree with you. Upgrading intakes just based on what they flow would be useless. No way would a stock 7.3L head even flow 241 cfm per cylinder. Probably more like 150 to 170-ish (don't have any data here). I'm simply upgrading them because the rest of my intercooler plumbing will be 3-inch...

    good turbo information??

Got ya. I'm not up to speed on my mass airflow math, or I'd probably use that LOL

    good turbo information??

As far as overall flow (which a lot of companies talk about) I've found this calculation helps: Lbs per minute of charger, divided by .07 Example: a BW S363 (w/cast wheel) flows 75 lb/min, divided by .07 = 1,071 cfm It works the opposite if you have the cfm number but not the lbs/min (just...

    Turbo sqeeling sometimes.

Sounds like the beginning of wheel-to-housing contact. Does it do it right off idle, say when thrust is first applied?

Is Rotella really bad on a 7.3?

Apples to oranges, but I've got oil analysis results from running the T6 in the wife's Jeep Liberty that say it's pretty much like new at 4,000 miles. I think you're good if you keep clean oil in a 7.3L, like what you've been doing (3-4K tops on a change). The oil just has a lot to do, all...

Rumor has it the ’13 will get another hp bump from the factory, too.

    dyno truck

Ours did 336 stock, at the 390hp factory rating. Then it did 347 with the 400hp reflash. I've seen anywhere from 320 to 350 to the wheels.

Is Rotella really bad on a 7.3?

It wasn't ever clarified, but I think the OP was referring to conventional 15W-40 Rotella. That's how I took it, anyway. That 5W-40 T6 is real good stuff. Just a little pricey.

    SD Intakes vs. OBS Intakes

Very good point. An engineer at Navistar once told me he'd be more worried about opening up the 7.3L's heads before getting the stock, crimped downpipe out of the way... Don't know if I believe that—but it was interesting to hear.

Don't blame him one bit either LOL I'm an Office fan myself.

    SD Intakes vs. OBS Intakes

I agree it's a huge difference in flow. But when you look at the total area of a 3-inch vs. 2-inch circle it makes sense. A 2-inch hole has an area of 3.142-inches, while a 3-inch circles' total area comes to 7.065-inches or so. More than double...

    SD Intakes vs. OBS Intakes

I thought some of you would find this interesting. Since I plan to upgrade to the bigger intakes on my ’97 soon I wanted to collect some data. Everyone knows the 3-inch inlet intakes outflow the 2-inch OBS ones, but I wanted to find out exactly how much more. And the answer is quite a bit more...
