97 Keeps dying!
97 7.3 with 315k. Has a bit of a surge at an idle. Then it will die. Driving down the road it's fine but will die while coasting. Starts right back up though. At first it was throwing a CPS code. Swapped it out for another one (Black), first was grey from Ford and still doing the same thing but...- dthompson

Yeah Chris. We are thinking about going up Friday. Just FYI, I think sportsman is 12.0 and slower. Basically will be Dq'd if break that once eliminations start. But it's the cheapest class to enter so if all you want is those three passes no big deal.- dthompson

OIL FILTER STUCK ON!!!
^X2. You will never get the oil cooler back together still attached to the truck. I've had a hell of a time getting it back together on the bench before. Just remove it and get the rebuild kit. -

Blown Head Gasket or ???
Went and drove approx 10 miles real quick this evening. It did not overheat. Before it would overheat in less than 5 miles. Going to try a good 30 or so mile trip tomorrow and see what happens. Thinking that pulling the thermostat may have done the trick. Thanks guys -

Ok pulled the thermostat. Still seems to be building excessive pressure. Enough to bulge the upper hose. Oil is low. Pretty sure it was full, going to top it off and keep and eye on it, but does oil in the anti-freeze have anything to do with the overheating and pressure in the system? Haven't... -

The First set I did didn't either. Then my buddy who is a mechanic had a truck come in with a " blown head gasket". Further investigation showed it was the cups.
