    6.0 Starting Issue

Common issue. Some people zip tie them, some put rubber hose under the connectors, so they are pushed tight, and others buy new connector shells and replace them.

    2006 6.0 block trouble

You're not kidding. I had to play with different light sources and angles to see that in my rod. It's there, in the same location. Not where I expected it would be placed.

    2006 6.0 block trouble

6.0 blocks are so plentiful in the US, Hartwig; I'd just get another. No, I'm afraid I have to disagree. It depends on the competency of the shop and the equipment they want to invest in. The CNC equipment for the last decade can easily correct for something like this. RMC is one of the CNC...

    2006 6.0 block trouble

I've been going back through peoples threads on engine disassembly and not having found bearing shells that look like this. The closest pattern to this was my mis installed con rod shell.

By doing that, you would alter the pivot point of the pistons, i.e., bringing the wrist pin higher towards the top of the piston. You would also reduce the thickness of the bushing at the highest loaded region. It also would depend on the thickness of the plating; they look steel-backed, so...

    2006 6.0 block trouble

Goodson makes a very expensive kit for doing these. However, they are pretty simple to make if you only work on a few engines—Goodson TB-kit for about $1,500.

The OE rod I have here is similar to yours. Not a segmented bushing.

Found them. https://www.xtremediesel.com/clevite-223-3671-piston-pin-bushing They would need to be taper ground (in the rod) and then honed to size.

    2006 6.0 block trouble

I think ANWB was thinking of wrist pins, not the bushings. But Ford would not be selling the bushings, they would be part of the rod assemblies. International might sell the bushings by themselves.

    2006 6.0 block trouble

Hartwig and I share two other forums, and we've discussed this. The hope of coming here is this forum has the most experienced 6.0L engine builders and machinists. I visit here once a week but usually to see what's happening. It looks like INT was using a twin spindle boring machine, and the...

Late to the thread. cRaZy8, I have to commend you for doing that; not many do. That is the proper way to audit clamping load, measure the torque backing off. People can check clamping load by backing off, measuring the value, and then reapplying. It's done with critical applications, even...

    Acid in fuel

It might be an "Algae" problem - it's not really algae, but it's the term associated with it. You can check with pH strips. From one source -. 4. Your fuel pH is lower than it should be. Algae in diesel fuel produce acids that gradually skew the fuel's pH towards an acidic environment. A pH...

Voltage drop and idle speed drop during warm up

Your reported OBD2 voltage can be up to 0.5v lower than at the alternator/batteries, depending on the channel. If your one ground strap were really bad, you would have started on most, if not one, battery. Without ground on the other battery, it's just a positive terminal connection with no...

Voltage drop and idle speed drop during warm up

That's a more poor condition cable than I would ever imagine. Cold, the alternator post to alternator frame reading should be in the 14.2 to 14.4v reading. It can drop per design to 13.8v with the underhood heat. Putting a clamp-on ammeter on the glow plug fusible links should show the ON...

Voltage drop and idle speed drop during warm up

Depending on the alternator, several different voltage regulators could have been installed. If the VR is one with a higher voltage setpoint than 14.4v, even with a lower output current alternator, you could get the GPCM to cycle on and off due to the voltage. The details from the service...

05 fog lights won't turn on

The fog light circuit got a lot of changes during the years, and it's not the same as laid out in the 2003 service diagrams as it is on my 2003 truck. I played with this circuit on both my '01 and '03 trucks so I could have the fog lights on with highs. One of the things confounding you may be...
