    Intermittent no start

    If it's a no-crank/no-start, try disconnecting the fan at the connector in front of the fuel filter housing. I faulty fan clutch can cause that no-crank condition.

    It sounds to me like a cracked injector nozzle, it'll dump so much fuel they are hydro-locking which is making the noise. When they are dumping fuel like that you can "taste" the diesel fuel when you can near the exhaust. If the nozzle is cracked you have a fuel pressure issue.

    IIRC, there are two different size lower hoses on 03-07 truck, I think F250 had a smaller outlet for the bottom hose vs F350-F550

    Watch the end of the video posted in the first post, at the end he explains how the nose cones have to be changed. I'll never buy another 7.3 starter again.

    7.3 swap PCM question

    A few things to be cautious of, 99 Truck were either split shot injectors on the late production and single shot on the early, tuning is different. IIRC Excursions had solid state glow plug module and SD's still had the solenoid so the harnesses will be different.

    Sound like a loose injector, compression is leaking past the copper washer and aerating the fuel.
