Agreed, most of the 6.0 and 6.4 failures I've seen were caused by lifter failure. Whenever I have heads off I always reccomend replacing lifters on higher mileage/ hour engines just for that reason.

I believe what he meant is that he was able to remove the exhaust lifter, it didn't come out on its own. The intake lifter is stuck in the block.

A platinum is already over 100k up here, don't even want to see the price of one of these.

When you check for codes, are you doing a self test on the TCM? Could be the tft sensor going out of range when it's getting hot.

What are you using to check for codes? Most scanners will not give you all codes, especially transmission codes which could likely be your issue.

FICM sync is the communication between the FICM and PCM. There are dedicated communication wires between the two. Have a look at those, especially check the connections at the FICM to make sure they are properly seated.

I can't get the link to work. But I had a similar decision with my late 99. It was originally deep wedge wood metallic, not very many trucks that colour. Had to paint the whole truck and ended up going with the Blue Jeans Metallic. It wasn't a huge change but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Did you ever figure this out? Just finished installing an "enhanced" short block from Ford, reman heads from ford (long block wasn't availible) and now I have the same problem, cylinder 5 exhaust valves hanging open. Pushrod is installed correctly. Backed off the rocker bridge bolts on cylinder...

EGR cooler is probably clogged solid.

Yes closing vanes will create back pressure and keep it warmer. No harmful side effects, will probably burn more fuel.
