On these, as the engine heats up, so does the trans. Good for warming it up, but bad when towing as it can get pretty toasty in the mountains. Can you look at the 2019 and confirm it just has a thermostat of sorts in the hose right at the cooler (not PCM controlled)? If so, I may be able to swap to the newer cooler, run my existing lines with thermostat back to that cooler.
